Effect of Suerose, CO, Concentration, and PPF on Propagules Propagation and Growth of Gerbera hybrida ¢¥Beauty¢¥

Abstract
Seedlings of Gebera hybrida ¢¥Beauty¢¥ were employed for the measurement of propagule¢¥s propagation and growth as affected by sucrose, photosynthetic photon flux (PPF), and CO©ü. The number of shoots, fresh weight, dry weight, and leaf area significantly increased with increased sucrose concentration and PPF. However, under 100 ¥ì§ß¡¤m^(-2)¡¤s^(-1) PPF, the number of shoots was promoted by 2% sucrose concentration as compared with 3% sucrose. The PPF of above 130 ¥ì§ß¡¤m^(-2)¡¤s^(-1) strongly suppressed shoot formation but gave little effect on fresh weight, dry weight, and leaf area. The content of chlorophyll in leaves was the highest at 3% sucrose under the PPF of below 100 ¥ì§ß¡¤m^(-2)¡¤s^(-1). But gave little effect on chlorophyll content with increased sucrose concentration under the PPF of above 130 ¥ì§ß¡¤m^(-2)¡¤s^(-1). CO©ü treatment (500 ¥ì§ß¡¤§ß^(-1)) into culture vessel was not effective for propagule¢¥s propagation and growth.
